The Peale is open:
Monday – Wednesday: Closed
Thursday-Friday: 3:00pm- 7:00pm
Saturday-Sunday: 10:00am-4:00pm
The COVID-19 pandemic is an ongoing event. The Peale Center reserves the right to revise the posted policy, modify attendance capacity at in-person events, or cancel a scheduled event in response to an escalation in virus transmission and public health guidance issued by federal, state, and local authorities, including Executive Orders issued by the Mayor of Baltimore City.
To ensure the health and wellbeing of our visitors and staff, the Peale has implemented the following protocols to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19:
*Effective August 13, 2022, masks will be required to attend all in person, indoor events, including Peale exhibitions and programs. In keeping with public health and local government guidance, facemasks, worn properly over the nose and mouth, will be required at all times for indoor Peale events until further notice.
Help us protect everyone! If you feel sick on the day of your scheduled event, please stay at home. For visitors who are unvaccinated or not comfortable returning to in person events, the Peale will be recording and rebroadcasting certain programs. Recordings will be available on the Peale’s website.
Before you arrive:
-
- Reservations are required to attend Peale in-person events. Peale uses Eventbrite to manage event reservations. Registration information will be posted with the event details on our website.
- Get your vaccines.
When you arrive:
-
- Wear your mask for indoor events.
Vaccine Requirements for Staff
-
- All visitors, staff, volunteers, and on-site personnel must be fully vaccinated to attend indoor events at the Peale or Carroll Mansion. You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after you have received a second dose in a two-dose vaccine series or two weeks after you have received a single-dose vaccine.
Ticket Flexibility
In recognition of the great uncertainty created by the current health situation and the fact that some participants may arrive unaware of our vaccine policies, we have reviewed our ticket policies to make sure we are as flexible and accommodating as possible in the event you are unable to attend an in-person performance because of vaccine status. As such, many events will include components or elements that will be posted online. We will make every effort to help visitors experience Peale-related programs, regardless of vaccination status.
Ensuring Your Safety
The Peale has made a number of changes to make sure its building sites are as safe and welcoming as possible when we reopen. As health and safety conditions and recommendations change, we will update our policies accordingly and keep our audiences informed.
-
- We have enhanced our cleaning procedures and will offer hand sanitizer to visitors.
- We will be offering e-tickets/contactless entry options.
- All ticket buyers will be sent a pre-performance email with specific health and safety protocols relating to the performance they are attending.
Accessibility at the Peale
Wheelchair and Physical Building Access / There is a ramped entrance to the Peale via Watchhouse Alley. The Holiday Street Entrance located at 225 Holiday Street has five stairs with a handrail (tread height 7 inches). The building’s first floor is wheelchair accessible, including two accessible toilets. There are three floors in the Peale and we aim to hold much of our programming on the accessible first floor. To get to the 2nd floor there are 17 steps, 22 steps up to the 3rd floor and 22 steps up to the 4th floor. There is a handrail on all flights of stairs. An elevator is currently being installed at the Peale. Seating is available throughout the museum.
Additional information about accessibility, including details about parking, service animals, visual descriptions, and more, can be found on our Accessibility page.
There are five steps up to the main entrance of the Peale, and a ramped entrance is available through Watchhouse Alley to the left of the Peale building. If you would like to enter this way, please let us know when you book your tour at info@old.thepealecenter.org and we’ll be happy to help.
We are in the process of installing an elevator and make the building more accessible. Until then, access to the second floor requires climbing 17 steps, and the third floor and attic can also be visited only by climbing stairs. We apologize for this inconvenience, and look forward to reopening as a fully accessible building in 2022!
