Sponsor a Gallery

Naming opportunities are available for sponsors of room renovations in the historic Peale Museum building!

Groups and individuals are already collaborating on the sponsorship of these galleries; let us know if you would like to join them!

  1. The Peale Gallery: the front-of-house gallery where the stories of the Peale building and family are told. Donate here to the lighting of this key gallery!
  2. The Moses Williams Center: classroom/gallery for the Accomplished Arts Apprentices “artsforce” development program. Moses Williams (1777 – c. 1825) was an accomplished silhouette artist. Born to a couple enslaved by Charles Willson Peale, he grew up in a sort of indentured status in the Peales’ household in Philadelphia, where Peale had supported the Act for the Gradual Abolition of Slavery in the Pennsylvania legislature. His entrepreneurial spirit, talent, and success in the face of systemic racism and injustice make Moses Williams a relevant and exemplary historical figure for the AAA apprentices. Naming their teaching gallery after him puts this important history at the heart of the 1814 museum building and the stories that visitors will learn about it and the Peale family when it reopens after extensive renovations in 2022.
  3. The Latrobe Room: the large second floor gallery with skylight that makes the Peale building architecturally unique. The Peale Center’s refurbished major assembly room honors Benjamin Latrobe, architect and builder of the new republic, friend, patron and benefactor of the Peale family. Both the Peales and Latrobe nurtured a vibrant civic culture for the young United States. It is that same intention that animates the restored Peale of the 21st century.
